Admissions to the Police

This motor vehicle collision resulted in the charge of Red Light – Fail to Stop being laid against our client. The defendant was found guilty at trial however the conviction was set aside on appeal. The technical issues argued at the appeal concerned trial procedure and the admissibility of statements made by accused persons to persons in authority, in this case a police officer. Although technical in nature, this appeal deals with one of the corner stones of our judicial system – the Confessions Rule.
